Menageries and Zoos

Queen Hatshepsut ruled for 21 years and 9 months in Egy-
pt. She ruled mightily from 1479 BC to 1458 BC. Yes, she
ruled longer than any other lady in that country. She decid-
ed to create a menagerie of animals. It was a menagerie b-
ut some considered it the first, recorded zoo. There definite-
ly could have been more before hers. HAH-HAH!! She was
tough.

In 1000 BC, wise emperor Zhou Wen Wang invented the pl-
ace Ling-Yu. It is also called Garden of Intelligence. He did
invent a dynasty too. He decided to put various kinds of ani-
mals on the land of 1500 acres. It was styled as a park but
it was one of the early zoos too.

From 1000 BC to 400 BC, leaders/rulers from all around the
world made miniature, zoological gardens. Some of those we-
re menageries & some were private. Even King Solomon had
one set up.

Solomon did go overboard with his pleasures. He went so wr-
ong but he repented for his sins. Jehovah God forgave him to
an extent. I have wisdom & lady friends like he had, but I did
not hurt any lady in any way though. I never will. I only try to
help the ladies that I come in contact with in various ways.

From AD 400 to about 1500, there were not many folks maki-
ng zoos in Europe or in any other country. In the year 1519,
a humongous, zoological garden was found in what is current-
ly the country of Mexico. The Aztec Indians created it.

In 1752, Vienna, Austria opened a zoo. In 1775, Madrid, Sp-
ain made their zoo. In 1793, France made their zoo. In 1844,
Berlin, Germany revealed their zoo. In 1859, Philadelphia, P-
ennsylvania chartered their zoological garden but had to wait
to finish building it. The Civil War was going on then.

In 1864, the Central Park Zoo in New York. In 1870, Buffalo,
New York made their zoo. In 1874, Philadelphia, Pennsylva-
nia finally opened their zoological garden. Later in 1874, the
Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago opened up. In 1887, Canada cr-
eated a zoo.

In 1907, the German, animal dealer Karl Hagenbeck came up
with the moat options. In 1925, The European bison was dyi-
ng off in the wild rapidly. In 1972, the Arabian oryx also was
becoming extinct.

Thorough, caring breeding programs have allowed wholehear-
ted people to place those two & other animals back into the
wild. The moat options are still utilized today & it gives wise
creatures space to roam.
