The Resilient, Brilliant Maria Kilin
In 1924, Maria Kilin was born in the village of Shmakova.
That village is located in the Far East of Russia near the
Chinese border. Criminals kidnapped her dad & older bro-
thers.
Due to lack of funds for food, her mother sent Maria & the
rest of her siblings to a Russian Orthodox orphanage. Mar-
ia migrated to North Korea in 1941 & got married. She le-
ft behind 3 kids that were born in the years 1942, 1945, &
1948.
Maria learned the skill of sewing & her husband operated
the family business. The customers were mostly Soviets,
Americans, & Koreans who all were like one, big, happy f-
amily. Some things changed drastically in 1950 for the wo-
rse. Maria passed away in 2010.
