The First Stanley Cup

The Lord Stanley of Preston brought the world the
first Stanley Cup. That trophy was first presented
in 1893 to the Montreal Amateur Athletic Associa-
tion on behalf of the affiliated Montreal Hockey C-
lub.

MHC were champions of the amateur Hockey As-
sociation of Canada (AHAC). In 1895 Queen's Uni-
versity were the official challengers for the cup. N-
ow you know why hockey is a major tradition in C-
