Most likely, the awful Great Depression began on October 29, 1929 and it
ruled for about 11 years brutally. It turned the world upside down and side-
ways simultaneously. It came through like category 5 hurricanes, tornado-
es, and other types of storms.
Tons of folks put themselves on tighter budgets so they minimized purcha-
sing stuff. It was kind of like mammals' fruits of labor were collectively stol-
en, because money and other resources got scarce.
Since that was the case, numerous businesses suffered and/or folded. A l-
ot of our farms got damaged and/or wiped out entirely during the horrendo-
us dust storms that happened in the 1930's.
Plenty of earthlings were quickly cashing out of the stock market after it plu-
mmeted like some meteors. Several banks made some unwise decisions re-
garding stocks.
The Smoot-Hawley Tariif with the continent of Europe raised taxes. They cla-
imed that they did it to guard establishments in the United States, but that p-
lan backfired because the trades went down.
Did you know that about 9,000 banks had struggled and that the deflation ra-
te rose way up to about 11.5 percent? The tariff in place got things so shaky
that authentic exports descended drastically to about 21 percent at times.
Plenty of people lost their jobs and the unemployment crap went up to about
25 percent. Some human beings retrieved material from their ancient wardro-
bes to create what they put on after the Great Depression occurred.
A lot of those earthlings sported shoes with cardboard inserts. When they w-
ore that footwear out, the folks placed their feet in any ones that had even so-
me room for their leg-boats.
Three times or probably more daily, plenty of mammals ate potatoes that we-
re fired up for the mornings. Folks consumed mashed potatoes at lunch time
& potato salad for their third meal. A kid's mother even decided to make pot-
ato fudge.
In other words, they did what they could to feed and cover their families and f-
riends. Yes, the Great Depression (recession), discrimination in unemployme-
nt, World War 1, World War 2, and the Cold War have lots of history in Wash-
ington state.
The Great Depression was over when World War 2 started. About 12 million s-
oldiers became able to provide for themselves and families, because they we-
re working.
